Brush Hogging, Field Mowing & Overgrown Lot Cutting
Field getting away from you? Vacant lot drawing letters from the county? Pasture past what a lawn mower can survive? Dad Bod Tractor provides bush hogging and rough-cut mowing throughout Pensacola, Pace, Milton and all of Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties: tall grass, weeds and light brush knocked back down to size, one time or on a schedule. Bush hogging, also called brush hogging or rough-cut mowing, is built for exactly the growth normal lawn equipment can't touch. And when a property has gone past mowing altogether, our land clearing service takes it the rest of the way.
Free Walk-Through • One Straight Price Before The Machine Starts
850-603-8499Maybe the back field skipped a season and turned into a hayfield. Maybe the county sent a letter about the vacant lot. Maybe the push mower took one look and quit. Rough acreage is exactly what a bush hog is for, and exactly what we do.

One Walk-Through. One Straight Price.
Growth, terrain and access vary field to field, which is why mowing is priced in person, free. Zac walks the property with you, you agree on exactly what gets done, and the number comes back before any machine starts. No pressure, no games, no surprises at the end.
Bush hogging is simple, but doing it without wrecking equipment or hidden property features takes a plan. Here's how a job actually goes.
Call, text or send photos. Zac reads the growth, the terrain and the access, then you agree on a straight price.
Stumps, old fence wire, debris piles, wet spots, septic and irrigation. You point out what you know is hiding in the grass.
One-time knockdown or ongoing maintenance, how aggressive the cut needs to be, and which areas get left alone.
Tall grass, weeds and light brush cut and shredded, with the material left on the ground to break down naturally. No hauling needed for most cuts.
A standing schedule if you want one, so the field never gets ahead of you again.
Step one takes about thirty seconds.
You're not hiring a salesman and hoping the crew gets the message. The guy who walks your field, hears what's hiding in the grass and gives you the quote is the guy running the machine. If you're looking for a local bush hogging service that works that way, that's Zac.
Sound like your kind of contractor?
One crew can take you from overgrown acreage to finished property.
Bush hogging is rough-cut mowing with a heavy rotary cutter: tall grass, thick weeds, briars and light brush cut and shredded, with the material left where it falls to break down naturally. It's not a finish mow and it's not supposed to be. The job is turning ground you can't walk through into ground you can, and doing it fast.
Most cuts leave the shredded material on the ground where it breaks down on its own. If a property needs more than a bush hog can give it, saplings, heavy brush, real clearing, that's a land clearing job, and Zac will tell you straight which one you actually need.
Cuts overgrowth down fast and keeps it down with regular mowing.
Removes heavier brush, saplings and selected trees when mowing isn't enough.
If the growth has real wood in it, land clearing is usually the better investment: brush, saplings and selected trees out, debris handled, and the property actually changed instead of just trimmed. Not sure which one you need? Give Zac a call and walk the property together; you'll agree on a plan and one straight price either way.
Between Gulf rain, sandy soil and a growing season that barely takes a month off, grass around Pensacola doesn't wait for anybody. A field that looks manageable in spring can be waist-high by midsummer, and overgrown vacant lots can draw code-enforcement complaints or notices depending on the property and jurisdiction.
Regular bush hogging is one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to keep open acreage under control, and if a property has already gone past mowing, we handle land clearing too, so the answer doesn't change no matter how far gone it is.
A heavy rotary cutter works through rougher vegetation and rougher ground than any residential mower, but Zac still reads the terrain for holes, stumps, wire and wet areas before cutting. That check is the difference between a clean cut and a broken machine, and it happens on the walk-through, not over the phone.
And the person running the machine is the person you called. No crews you've never met, no subcontractors. You get Zac.
The machine is ready when you are.
If a riding mower can safely handle it, mow it and save the money. The trouble starts when heavy growth hides holes, wire, stumps, debris and woody saplings, and a residential mower finds them the expensive way. That's where rough-cut equipment earns its keep. Before risking your mower, send Zac a few photos and get a free quote, then decide.
The first cut on overgrown ground is always the biggest one. After that, keeping it down is quick and costs less, which is why a lot of folks put their field, lot or pasture on a standing schedule, seasonal, periodic or based on how fast it grows, and never think about it again.
One-time knockdowns are welcome too. Tell us which one fits and the quote comes back priced that way.

It depends on acreage, how tall and thick the growth is, terrain and access. Every field is different, and the exact number is always a free quote: 850-603-8499.
Per-acre pricing varies with the growth: a maintained field costs less to cut than acreage that hasn't been touched in years. The condition of the growth matters more than the acreage, and your exact number is a free walk-through away.
Rough-cut mowing with a heavy-duty rotary cutter that goes through tall grass, weeds, briars and light brush that would destroy a regular mower. The cut material gets shredded and left to break down naturally.
For a bush hog, almost nothing is. Waist-high, chest-high, years of growth: that's the machine's job. If it's gone past grass and brush into saplings and small trees, that becomes a land clearing job, and we do that too.
Around Northwest Florida, most fields and lots need cutting a few times a year to stay under control. The first cut is the big one; keeping it down after that is quicker and cheaper, which is why recurring schedules are popular.
Yes, including lots that have drawn attention from the county or an HOA. A mowed lot is a cheap way to stay off the code enforcement list.
Tell us everything you know about on the walk-through: stumps, old fence wire, debris piles, wet areas. We work around what's flagged, and go carefully where nobody knows what's under there.
Bush hogging shreds the material and leaves it where it falls to break down, and for most cuts nothing needs hauling. If a job produces real debris, we can pile it or haul it.
Depends on how wet. Soft ground can rut badly under equipment, so sometimes the honest answer is to wait a week. Zac will tell you straight on the walk-through.
Yes. Bush hogging and brush hogging describe the same rough rotary mowing, and around Northwest Florida you'll hear both. Heavier brush cutting and removal, where the growth actually leaves the property, falls under land clearing.
Yes. Scheduled as needed, seasonal, periodic or matched to how fast your property grows, and priced ahead of time so your field, pasture or lot just stays cut without you thinking about it.
Bush hogging cuts overgrowth down and keeps it down with repeat mowing. Land clearing removes heavier brush, saplings and selected trees when mowing isn't enough, and preps the ground for what comes next. Plenty of properties need one, then the other.
Light young growth, often yes, depending on the machine and the species. Woody saplings and small trees can quickly turn the job into land clearing instead, and Zac will tell you on the walk-through which side of that line your property sits on.
No. Half an acre behind the house is a normal job for us. No job is too small to call or text about, and quotes are always free.
